Shown in the photo is a black-winged damselfly. Damselflies are
members of Odonata which includes drogonflies. Black-winged
damselflies have black wide wings and metallic blue-green body. They
are predators and have large compound eyes (click here) to spot their preys. They trap the preys
with spines of their legs (click here). Female
black-winged damselflies have white spots on its wings. Unlike
dragonfly nymphs, damselfly nymphs have external gills. |
