Here is an experiment with hdparm -t
[device]. The table below shows the results. /dev/hda1 is
located at the beginning, /dev/hda2 comes second, and /dev/hda3 is at
the end of the hard disk. The figures show clearly that the data
transfer is much faster when it is stored in /dev/hda1. This is where
the swap and the system files should be.
