Shelduck, Tadorna tadorna

Shelduck   The shelducks are large aquatic birds that are introduced in parks and gardens for their colorful feathers. This Shelduck was found near a pond in the Botanical Garden at Nantes. The vivid contrasts of shelduck feathers are conspicuous against the green turf.

Shelduck   The diagram depicts the coloring of a shelduck. Shelduck has a black head, a reddish beak and legs, palmate feet, and brown streaks and black patches on its white body. A male shelduck would have a caruncle on its beak in the nesting season.
